Neptune News

Week of October 30, 2006

Thanks to everyone who donated items for and helped out at our picture day/pizza party!  Here’s hoping everyone had a good time.  Now it’s back to business this week as we prepare for our second meet of the season.

Second Meet News – We swim the Cuyahoga Falls Tiger Sharks this Saturday at our pool.  Be at our pool by 11:45. We will try to get in the water to warm-up at noon.  Parents, please sign up to work and to bring a food item for our concession stand.  The Tiger Sharks are a big team and we are going to need lots of concession stand donations!

Remember – I want everyone on our team to participate in our Divisional Championship meet the first weekend in February.  I rarely make anything mandatory, but attending Divisionals is mandatory! There are no qualifying times for this meet so everyone may attend, BUT you must have swum in at least THREE DUAL MEETS to be permitted to swim in Divisionals.  We are only hosting three home meets this season; our first meet that just took place, the meet coming up this Saturday and another meet in December. The other four meets in our season are away meets to Ridgewood, Lake County Central, Ashland and North Canton. I see quite a few people have signed off for this Saturday’s meet.  Remember – you will have to go to away meets to get your three meets in so you can go to Divisionals if you did not swim at our last meet and have signed off for this meet!  If you signed off and think you might be able to swim this Saturday, I need to know right now so I can enter you

Practice Update – As stated at the picture/pizza party last week, there will be NO PRACTICE this Tuesday, October 31 as so many towns are having trick or treat this evening.  There will be FRIDAY PRACTICES starting this Friday, November 3.  With Friday practices, please come to your actual age practice (no 2 hour practices on Fridays).  The times/ages for Friday practices are 6:30 to 7:30 is for 10 and Under; 7:30 to 8:30 for 11 and Older. Questions?  Call Coach Sue at 330-424-1128.  Early morning practices for high school age swimmers only are also starting this week.  The deep pool is open at 6:00 a.m. for lap swimming.  Go to the Neptune mailboxes; look for Coach Sue’s folder and a practice will be in there for you.

Practice Rules – A reminder of the Neptune Practice Rules was placed in everyone’s mailbox on Thursday.  Be sure to review these before coming to practice so everyone is aware of what is expected of you.

Odds and Ends – I have not heard anything yet on our swim caps, but know the order is in and being worked on.  This will be the last week that high school swimmers from Canfield, Boardman and Poland will be swimming in our practices, but remember, until you swim at a meet where you represent your high school team, you still can swim at Neptunes meets, so I will see all of you this Saturday!  Coach Kristin and Coach Jeff are also available for private lessons between practices.  If you are interested, just ask!
