Great job everyone!  Divisionals was a huge success thanks to all our hard-working parents who took care of every possible aspect of the meet.  Special thanks to Meet Directors, Scott and Melanie Emerson who worked like fiends to make sure no one was wanting for anything.  We had tons of compliments from the coaches of the other teams; from how smoothly everything went, and how organized everything was to how well the 8 & Unders and 9 & 10s were cared for, the food, the pleasant and positive timers and officials, etc.  Special “thanks” to all the Neptune swimmers who also pitched in and worked the meet to make it a wonderful day. Thank you everyone.  And...we were Runners-Up again this year!  Way to go Neptunes!  We had some fantastic races resulting in 119 personal best times.  What a great event!  I’ve posted the meet results on the Neptune Info Board.

Leagues – Who qualified for Leagues is now posted on the www.neoyswim.org website. This is how it was decided - with 8 & Unders, 9 & 10s and 11 & 12 age groups; swimmers who placed first, second or third in an event at Divisionals automatically qualify for Leagues.  So that is nine swimmers. Then the results from all three Divisional meets are pooled together and the next 15 fastest swimmers are taken in order to fill three heats of eight swimmers or 24 swimmers total. The same goes for relays. For the 13 & 14 and 15 & 18 – the first and second place swimmers in each event at Divisionals qualify for Leagues.  They then take the next ten fastest swimmers from the combined results of all three Divisionals in order to fill two heats of eight – or 16 swimmers total.  This also holds true for relays.

Congratulations to all who qualified for Leagues! Remember, now is the time to come to practice as often as possible so you can do a fantastic job at Leagues on Saturday, March 3.  If you did not qualify for Leagues, your season is done for this year (unless you will be attending an invitational or last chance meet). We look forward to getting back together at our banquet in March and don’t forget, the Y holds a six-week Spring Swim Clinic beginning the first week of April - just in time to get ready for summer swimming!

The Neptunes Banquet – will be held Sunday, March 11 at the Georgetown. Information on the banquet is in your mailboxes. Remember that we have a Chinese Auction at our banquet.  I’ve already heard of some great items people have picked up for the auction.  Feel free to go together with other families in order to get a larger item if you’d like.  Other popular auction items have included movie money, gift certificates for restaurants or stores, anything swimming related, bath and body sets, toys, food baskets – you name it – kids love to win it!

Zone Qualifiers – See the list on the Neptune Info Board to keep track of who has qualified for Zones so far.  Relays swimmers will be determined after Leagues on Saturday, March 3. Congratulations to those who have qualified  and “good luck” to those who are just ticks of the clock away from a Zone time as they swim in Leagues and their high school meets in the upcoming weeks.
