Neptune News
Week of September 18, 2006
Welcome to week two of our swim season. We had a bunch of new faces sign up for the Neptunes this past week welcome; and welcome back to all our returning swimmers as well!
Fees and Forms Remember to get your medical release forms filled out and turned into Coach Sue. All fees should be paid at the front desk.
Swim caps FYI we will be offering personalized latex swim caps this year. Cost is $14 for two caps which will have on it the Neptune logo as well as the swimmers last name. I have a few people on my reserve list, but we need more!! Email me at suemellish@gmail.com and let me know if youd like a set of caps. I will be turning the order in on Swim Suit Try-On Day, which is Thursday, October 5 in the Youth Lobby (by the Neptune Info Board). Knabes will be here starting at 5:00 p.m. for you to try-on and buy team suits as well as fins (I encourage everyone to get a pair), goggles and caps.
First Meet News Our first meet will be Saturday, October 21 at home against Ashtabula. We will need workers and concession stand donations. Check out the Neptune Info Board to sign-up to help beginning in October.
Invitational News If you are planning on attending the YMCA Westminster Invitational, I need your entries and fees NOW! Do not email this information as I will only take entries that are accompanied by fees paid. Info on this meet is on the Neptune Info Board. Be sure to add the $5 Invitational Fee to your entry fee total. Make checks out to Sue Mellish. I will be mailing the entries on Wednesday.
Practices If you are 14 or older (or have the permission of Coach Sue) you may swim the entire two hours during the evening practices; Monday and Wednesday 6:30 to 8:30; Tuesday and Thursday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Evening practices will NEVER be in the shallow pool I know the registration had that information wrong. Only the 4:25-5:25 practices in the shallow pool. Practice this week will focus on backstroke. Those coming for two hours know that backstroke drills and sets will be incorporated into your practices, but you will be doing more than just drill work.
Mark your calendars at least tentatively for right now it is hoped that team pictures will be taking place Thursday, October 26. We will not have practice that day, but instead do our team picture and then individual pictures for those who are interested. After picture-taking is done, you will be able to enjoy the open swim offered in the shallow pool and we would like to have a Halloweenesque party following pictures where every family brings along something ghoulishly delicious to eat. More on that the first week of October.
