Week of October 17, 2005

There is a lot going on this week!  Read ahead to find out all you need to know.

Swimsuit Try-On Day – Today, Monday, October 17 is swimsuit try-on day.  Knabe’s will be set-up in the Youth Lobby today from about 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Team suits, practice suits, goggles, caps and fins will all be available.  Be sure to get fins (if you are able) since we use these in practice.  Not able to make it down to the Y this night?  Call Knabe’s at 1-800-452-1441 or visit them online at www.knabes.com to order.  The Knabe’s people can help you with suit size and anything else you might need.

Forms and Fees Needed – Everyone needs to have turned in their medical release forms and have paid their fees – both Y membership and swim team dues!  I am also missing many “Want Would You Like To Swim” sheets.  Get these turned in as well!

First Meet News – Our first meet is against Green (a new team this year) this Saturday, October 22 at our pool.  Be at our pool at 12:00 to warm-up at 12:15.  See the extra sheet – “What You Need to Know About Swim Meets” – that is in your mailbox!  Study it and be prepared so you will have a fun experience!

Meet Sign-Off – If you are not attending the meet this Saturday, October 22, you should have signed off on the Meet Sign-Off sheet on the Neptune Info board!  If, for some reason, you did not sign-off and you find out this week you cannot attend Saturday’s meet – call me!  My home # is 330-424-1128.  Even if you become sick Saturday morning – call me at home by 10:00 a.m. so I can fix the line-up, print new cards, etc. before I leave to go to the Y for the meet. 

Parents’ Help Needed – If you signed-up to work this first home meet, be sure to be on time this Saturday! Jobs will be explained, watches handed out, etc. at about 12:30.  Also, we still need food for the concession stand.  The sheet to say what you can bring is posted on the Neptune Info Board. Please sign-up to bring something for the meet.  The concession stand is one way we make money for the team during the year; so all donations are greatly appreciated!

Y Invitationals – These are now posted along with deadlines for entries.  Be sure to also add the $5 Neptune Invitational fee (per family going; not per swimmer) to your total.  Y Invitational entry fee checks should be made out to “Sue Mellish.”

Party Time!! – We will be having a “Get to Know Your Team Day” next Wednesday, October 26!  On this day we will taking team pictures, watching stroke DVDs, meeting all the families and eating pizza.  Be at the Y for individual pictures beginning at 6:00 p.m.  (There will be no 4:25 to 5:25 p.m. practice this day). We will also be showing our new stroke DVDs in the Youth Lobby while people are having their pictures taken.  We will then take the team picture at about 7:00 p.m. with pizza in the Youth Lobby following pictures!  Be sure to attend this very fun, friendly, and informative evening.
