Neptune News
Week of December 4, 2005
Congratulations swimmers! We won both of our dual meets on Saturday! I received your times last night and we had quite a few personal best times. I do not have the entire meet results yet as I had to leave the meet without them. No one, me included, knew how to get the computer to print out results for a double dual meet – where is Mr. Allen when you need him! Hopefully, when I return home from practice Tuesday night, I will have an email waiting for me with the meets intact. I will then post a copy on the Neptune Info Board! Thanks to everyone for getting there early; for those who worked the meet – no we normally don’t have to do that at away meets – and for your good sportsmanship. You are all such wonderful representatives of our Youngstown Central YMCA.
Swim caps – the reorder of caps is not in yet, but we did get some with the Neptune Logo on it. So if you missed getting a personalized cap, know that Neptune caps are now available for $5 each. Just ask Coach Sue!
Christmas Party – We will be having a Christmas Party on Thursday, December 21. It will be a dessert party with organized games and open swim. Please sign up on the Neptunes Info Board to say what dessert you are bringing. More information will be coming. Check your mailbox.
Our next meet will be a home meet, Saturday, December 16. Our warm-ups will be at noon. Be at the pool by 11:45 a.m. Parents – be sure to sign-up to work and to say what you can bring for the concession stand. This will be our last home meet. Everyone should try to attend!
Dining In – I hope everyone knows about the café that is now open on the second floor of the Y. I believe they are open until 7 p.m. weekday evenings and until 3 p.m. on Saturdays. So if you’d like a cup of soup, sandwich, cookies or some fresh fruit, be sure to dine in by going upstairs. The café’s menu is posted on the Neptune Info Board so you can see all the goodies that are available.
Some thoughts –
* Be sure to take advantage of Friday night practices. Kristen and Jeff are there for you so you can have this extra evening of practice. As we get closer to the end of the season, everyone should be getting to as many practices as possible.
* High school swimmers – keep coming to Monday and Wednesday dry land training at 6:30 p.m. I know this will be of great benefit to those who participate. Also, remember that morning practice times are available – take advantage of those as well. Email me if you want a workout!!
