Neptune News

Week of December 26, 2005

Wow!  What a fantastic Christmas party we had on the 19th.  Once again, thanks to all the parents who provided the food to make this event such a success.  Here’s hoping everyone had a wonderful Christmas and/or is enjoying Hanukkah! Read on to find out what’s up with the Neptunes this week!

Next meet news – Our next dual meet is Saturday, January 7 at Tuscawaras.  The address for the pool is 600 Monroe, Dover, Ohio 44622.  I know some of you have already signed off for this meet, but if you are able to come, try to since there will only be one more dual meet after this January 7th meet.  Let me know if you signed-off but have changed your mind and will be attending this meet!  Remember – you must have swum in 3 YMCA dual meets in order to be able to compete at Divisionals, Leagues or Zones.  If you have only been in one meet so far, you MUST swim at this upcoming meet and our last home meet against Trumbull, January 21 in order to go to Divisionals!

Speaking of Divisionals – Divisionals this year will be held on Saturday, February 4 at Southeast’s pool which is located on 460 Northfield Rd., Bedford Heights, Ohio. Mark your calendars now and plan to be there. This is our Championship meet and we need everyone to attend in order to place well.  We have placed second at this meet the past two years.  If everyone attends, we will have a shot at taking first place honors!  You’ve worked so hard all year!  Let’s finish the season with a “Bang” by doing well at Divisionals!

Practice Schedule – Remember … there will be no practice on Monday, January 2, but practice will take place at the normal times on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. With that in mind – try to get to as many practices as possible so you keep your competitive edge and so you’re ready for our meet with Tusc on January 7th.

Looking ahead – Please mark your calendars now and set aside the date of Sunday, February 19, 2006 as this is the date of our team’s major fund-raising event - the Y-Neptunes’ Presidential Invitational! All Neptune swimmers should plan to swim at this meet.  It is an invitational, meaning there are entry fees, but you choose what you swim!   Know that all families are required to participate in running this meet.  This is our only fundraiser during the season and we need everyone there to help make it a success.  If you have any questions about this, please contact Tom Nasci at 330-759-0223 or Melanie Emerson at 330-427-2946.  Also, we are encouraging everyone to place or get one ad for our meet program. Promote your business, surprise your swimmer with some encouragement in print, thank someone in a big way – place an ad!  Let’s work hard to make our 2006 Y-Neptune Presidential Invitational the best yet!
