Neptune News
Week of December 19, 2005
Great job everyone who participated at this past Saturday’s meet! We won the meet with our 8 points to North Canton’s 3. “Kudos” are also in order for the 9 & 10 Boys Medley Relay who made a Zone time in that event. It was so much fun seeing your expressions when you realized you had achieved your goal! I’d also like to recognize all the swimmers who took on new and challenging events at this meet in order to earn points for the team. I admire your willingness to take on those events purely because I asked you to. Also, I think some of you came away from the experience realizing you have what it takes to do those events and you should be proud of your efforts. I cannot express how much fun it is for Coach Jessie, Coach Stacy, Coach Pat and me to see all of you doing so well.
I’d also like to thank you for being such great representatives of your YMCA. We constantly get positive comments on the great character of our Neptune swimmers. Believe me when I say, the coaches and parents from the other teams notice when you shake hands with your opponents; when you say “ please and thank you;” when you cheer on your teammates… Keep up the good job! And of course, “thank you, thank you, thank you” to our parents who make running a swim meet seem so effortless; who feed the masses great food; who are there supporting the kids and are the backbone of our team. Yes, we have great swimmers, but they are a direct reflection of their fantastic parents.
Practice Schedule – Remember … there will be no practice on Monday, December 26 or Monday, January 2. With that in mind – try to get to as many of the other practices as possible so you keep your competitive edge and work off all those Christmas cookies!
Next Meet News – Can it be possible that there are only two dual meets left? Our next dual meet is Saturday, January 7 at Tuscawaras. The address for the pool is 600 Monroe, Dover, Ohio 44622. I know some of you have already signed off for this meet, but if you are able to come, try to since there will only be one more dual meet after this January 7th meet.
Looking ahead – Please mark your calendars now and set aside the date of Sunday, February 19, 2006 as this is the date of our team’s major fund-raising event - the Y-Neptunes’ Presidential Invitational! All Neptune swimmers should plan to swim at this meet. It is an invitational, meaning there are entry fees, but you choose what you swim! Know that all families are required to participate in running this meet. This is our only fundraiser during the season and we need everyone there to help make it a success. If you have any questions about this, please contact Tom Nasci at 330-759-0223 or Melanie Emerson at 330-427-2946. Also, we are encouraging everyone to place or get one ad for our meet program. Promote your business, surprise your swimmer with some encouragement in print, thank someone in a big way – place an ad! Let’s work hard to make our 2006 Y-Neptune Presidential Invitational the best yet!
