Coach Sue’s News – August 23, 2007
Well, my phone has been ringing off the hook with new people interested in the Neptunes! That’s exciting for our team. The word is out that we have fun and swim fast. Thanks Neptune swimmers for being such great representatives of our team.
The practice schedule is now up. I inadvertently sent our webmaster a schedule that was not quite right. The correct one is up now with two changes being made to the Tuesday and Thursday time slots. The 9 & 10s will swim from 5:00 to 6:30 and the 11 through 14s will have the pool from 6:30 until 8:00. This way both age groups get a 1 ˝ hour practice on those days.
Our coaching staff from last year, Coach Sue, Coach Stacy, Coach Jeff and Coach Kristen is set to return and excited about the season. We are also in talks with a fifth coach so we can meet our goal of having at least two, most times three coaches on deck at most practices. Bear with us as we adjust to our new practice schedule, start of the school year, other jobs, etc. We’ve got great plans for the year and look forward to starting the season!
Our swim suit try-on date has been set for early October. Knabes Swim & Trophy Shop will again be providing this service and will be at the Y on Wednesday, October 3, 2007. They will have their shop set-up by 4:30 p.m. and will be selling our team suit as well as swim fins (I suggest everyone have a pair), goggles, caps, practice suits, etc; everything you will need to enjoy a successful swim season. You can try on and buy your team suit the same day (we will be using the same team suit as last year) so mark you calendars! Also know that last year we ordered Neptune swim caps with last names on them ($14 per 2 caps) and we will be taking an order for these caps again at the swimsuit try-on. If you would like a set, be sure to order that night. The turn-around time on the caps will be quick this year, since the company already has our design done from last year.
I hope you are enjoying the rest of your summer. We are all excited about the season ahead and look forward to seeing everyone soon. If you see me, Coach Sue, at the Canfield Fair – one of my favorite places – be sure to say “Hi!”
