Lindsay’s Law: Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Youth in Athletes

What is Sudden Cardiac Arrest?
A Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) occurs when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating, cutting off blood flow to the brain and other vital organs. Sudden cardiac arrest is fatal if not treated immediately, most often by a defibrillator.

Swimmers also have the opportunity to compete in YMCA invitational meets, as well as USA Swimming meets during the season (as the Y-Neptunes Swim Team is also a USA Swim Team). Participation in these meets is optional. In order to compete in USA meets, an additional USA Swimming registration fee of $50 ($20 for the High School Neptunes participants) is required. All USA and YMCA Invitationals also require entry fees (our regular dual meets do not require entry fees).

We are pleased to announce that Jamie Stahl returns as Head Coach for the Y Neptunes this season. Michael Bleggi is the team Assistant Head Coach.

Season Summary

The winter season begins September 10 and continues through early March. A two-week free trial period (September 10-21) is available for first-timers wanting to see if the team is the place to be for them. Starting in late October, the team competes against other YMCA teams in a dual-meet format, with meets taking place roughly every other Saturday through January. A Divisional Championship meet takes place either the first Saturday or Sunday in February, with all team members competing. Those who post fast enough times at the Divisional meet qualify for the League Championship meet held the first Saturday in March.
